How do you add gifs to a forum?

I know how to do it on my phone but not on my computer. Which of the zillion different kinds of links etc do you use to add a gif in a forum? Thanks!

Copy the link and use the photo icon. Super easy peasy

If I'm using a gif from giphy, I just use the "gif link"

Well that sounds easy! Do you just paste the link or do you have to use the picture frame or link icon?
