have you noticed...

a pattern in how many pictures you take depending on what month it is?

Having just finished organizing all the pics I took over the last few years, and look through all the rest of the images I still need to scrap, I've come to realize that I take a TON of pictures from October to December and then next to none from January to March.

Do any of you do this as well? I feel bad, because I've not taken a single picture of my kids with my DSLR since the new year! While I have taken some with my phone, it's not the same.

Does anyone else find they need motivation to take pictures??

I hardly take photos these days now that my son is 13 and has been disliking being the subject of my photos for a few years now. All I get are silly faces, grumpy faces......if I want a nice photo of him, I have to do it without him noticing. So, I hardly take photos which makes me sad because I love documenting everything but seeing that grumpy teenager in every single photo....makes me taking photos just less & less.

I noticed I mainly take photos in the beginning and the end of the year. For some reason, I take less photos from August to November. I do want to capture more everyday moments throughout the whole year though.

I notice I don't want to take photos often this month, I think it's because I burnt out during December with all the festivity.

I notice a pattern of no photos all year - lol. Cheyanne is 16 now so the photo ops just aren't there as much as when she was young. Summer is when we do more things so I get photos during the summer months and the holidays but the rest of the year is pretty slim.

Totally agree. It's feast or famine around here. April through December are pretty heavy photo months, but January through March are so dark and boring that I don't shoot much. I also suffer from burn out, which I affectionately call "photo fatigue," after vacations and holidays. I'm trying to be more intentional this month about getting some pictures, but how many pics do I need of library trips, hot beverages, and home school projects!? Lol, I figure I'll make up for it come spring.

hahah! yes I feel this way too! It rains so much here in the winter and it's a cold rain. You can't go out and play in the rain like you can in the snow! So we are stuck inside. I don't need a thousand pics of my kids sitting on the couch doing nothing, lolol

My kids are getting older (8, 10, and 13) and complain when I take photos, so I'm definitely more intentional about my photo taking. So I tend to save my photo taking for special holidays (ie, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc), birthdays, visits with the extended family, vacations, and outdoor activities that all 5 of us do together. I don't take "sitting around the house looking cute" photos like I used to. So yes, it's definitely feast or famine. That said, since first getting a smartphone with a good camera 3 years ago I've never had a week where I didn't take at least 5 or 10 photos. I may not be pulling out my real camera during the slow photo times, but I'm still taking some photos.

I am the same way! We get tons & tons of snow here and the bulk of it is in January & February so I take the least amount of photos from the new year until it's finally Spring(ish) and/or Easter whichever comes first. I take the most photos from June through October, not really many in November, & then ramp back up for December.

I am doing PL again for the first time since 2014 so just keeping that in my mind so that I'm snapping 'ordinary' photos through the week helps. I also am using the Journey app to record what's happened each day & then attaching a photo to the entry so when I get behind I won't forget what happened week to week.

Me too. January and February hardly any. Plus, my girls are older and not hanging with me as much any more.

Yes! Every year when I go to do calendars I realize I take zero pictures in January and very few in February and March. It's cause we aren't outside, we are holed up doing inside stuff at our house. It's sad.

That's very similar to the pattern I find my photo-taking too! Renewed interest for fresh projects at the start of the year, and thinking about finishing books off at the end of the year. :P

Yep, that's me too!
