Grammar/writing websites for kids

I googled and found a bunch.. but was hoping you guys might have some recommendations based on personal use.

As with most elementary schools lately.. it seems the English department/curriculum is just abysmal at Ce's school. They're 150% focused on math instead of what I find to be far more important :p Writing skills are critical.. I use a calculator for the other stuff :D

Connor is in 5th grade now, and I'm just highly disappointed by what I've seen between class & home work the past few years.. Last weeks class work just came home today, and based on his score of 100, they're even encouraging writing in incomplete sentences. :p When I asked Ce about it he insisted his teachers want him to write like that. OK  While I try to teach him a bit more at home.. like uh.. what a noun is :S .. he and I don't mesh well in the teaching setting and I'd love a program that he can work on independently & at his own pace. I know we're only starting the second week of school but I really want to be proactive about things.

He has online math programs that he uses for school and I'd like to supplement that with some sort of (free preferably) english/grammar programs. Obviously, as a kid..he really prefers the programs that have games of some sort- either within the actual lessons or as a 'reward' for correct answers. His reading skills are fantastic.. but writing/grammar/etc are really lacking. Thanks for any suggestions!

Wish I could help :( I'm excited because one of my girls brought home last week's spelling test and she was finally marked wrong for putting random capital letters in there... No other school in her past grades had cared :D Maybe now that it's coming off her grade, she might actually cAre aBOut RandOm CaPItalIzaTIOns in her words lol. <--that killed me to type. And over the summer, she decided that the past tense of beat was bet and she kept telling me about all the levels on her DS games that she had bet o.O (or that she betted SMH)

So, I'm no help, but I'm watching for suggestions.
