Design ???

I am fairly new to digi scrapping after 5 years of traditional. I am extremely interested in learning how to design pp and elements. I use pse6. I would love input as to what program you need...CS? or can PSE do it. I also would love recommendations on a great tutorial site for this or books on the subject.

Do you need to use a Wacom as well? I haven't purchased one yet, but would also love to know if this makes scrapping easier?

Any advice is very welcome!

The best thing you can do is learn your program WELL before starting designing. Practice, play, discover...just explore the program, look up tuts for acheiving different effects (even if you won't use them for designing, they will help you learn the program and what it can do).

You CAN use PSE, but PS is much more powerful. But some designers do it...some even design in DIP and PSP. Again...they just have learned their programs and how to manipulate things to get them how they want.

And no, you don't NEED a wacom to design. I love my Wacom and think everyone needs one, but it's essentially a mouse in pen form...just has a lot more control than a regular mouse. But it's good for EVERYTHING, not just designing, kwim?

I can't answer any design questions, but I adore my wacom, and can't imagine doing any kind of detail work without it!

I still design almost exclusively in PSE I do have illustrator tho and use that to draw. Everything else tho, is done in PSE. I agree with Bree, really learn your program and focus on developing a distinct style. Design what you would scrap with. Look through the galleries and really watch trends to discover what scrappers are ACTUALLY using in their layouts. I wish I had some links to refer you to but I honestly dont know of any because most of us are self taught through trial and error and networking with friends who are designers too.
