December Daily anyone?

Sweet Shoppe SugarBabe
Every year I have big plans of getting out all my physical scrapbook supplies but I will create a digital scrapbook this December.
I plan to use Traci's latest collection: Oh, What Fun!
I will create 6x8 pages using KCB's templates and print an 8x8 Shutterfly book.

I would love to hear your plans. Happy scrapping!

The past 2 years, I've done a 6x8 digitally and printed each page individually. I always use an assortment of kits, especially since we do both Christmas and Hanukkah in our household.

I know for sure I'm going to use Mod Holiday & Very Merry from Studio Liv (as well as another kit she's bringing back later this week) and Hanukkah is Funnakah by Clever Monkey Graphics.

I also know my kid is going to insist I scrap a good chunk of the stories in 12x12 (printed 8x8) for *his* scrapbook and I'm cool with that too

This will be my 8th year doing "Document Your December". I do 31 layouts on 12x12 pages. I can get 2 years to a CM album.

Since most of my month is non Christmas related, I don't necessarily use a Christmas kit. Only one year did I use the same kit the whole month. It had a lot of paper colors and generic elements that would work with the non-Christmas related days.

I do usually choose to do the same method of dating my layouts throughout the month. One year, a template designer did templates with big numbers on each layout to document the date. That was neat but I did struggle on some days with either too many photos for the template or not enough photos. So I tend to choose templates that will work with the number of photos I take during the day.

So my plan for this year to is to choose templates that go with the photos and choose a kit that works for those photos, in other words just doing regular layouts. I will use a dating method throughout the month to tie them all together. I also use the same font for the little journaling that I do on my DYD layouts, again to tie them all together.

I have 8 stories done so far for my Countdown to Christmas album! It's my usual scrapped at 12x12 and printed at 8x8 album that I'll have printed at Shutterfly after it's done. I use a different kit for every story. I did snag some older Ali Edwards DD kits that were priced at 99 cents apiece (!!) this fall and have been using those but have to fiddle with the backgrounds as the papers are only 10x8 (or smaller).

Probably a niche question but how are Hanukkah-celebrators handling this year's late start?

I'm thinking my 'December' album will be going through into January.

If I do that, do I have to include my New Year's day hike too?

I am doing the Holiday Faves for the so-many years, instead of December Daily, because that's what works for me. Daily documentation is too much for me...
I'll be mixing & matching Kristin's huge storybook collection and Wille's Christmas collection for my Holiday Faves album.

Combining those 2 designers is going to be beautiful!!

You are off to a great start! I like that you are using a different kit for every story.

Sounds like you have a solid plan! I can't wait to see what you create.

Omg, love this!!

He's at that age where he's asking me to take photos and make pages and I hope he stays in this phase for a while. It's the cutest. I can always sometimes get him to do things "for the scrapbook." Matching pjs are en route and I am so excited.

I've done Dec Daily once before as a challenge. But I don't "do" enough through out the month to justify doing this kind of album every year or any year ...rofl. The one I did was SO hard to fill.

How many pages do you usually create in your Holiday Faves album?

I usually end up with around 50 pages, but that's because there will be some page fillers (word arts, etc) that make the album pretty.

I also do Holiday Faves. It's a much better fit for me. It helps me to focus on fun without added pressure.

I usually start with Thanksgiving because watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is tradition and many years family visit at Thanksgiving but don't come into town for Christmas. I usually include something about New Year's Eve/Day. I focus on the topic over the date so I may include a movie I watched early in January.

In the past I've tried to pick 10 faves but then I sometimes had more than 10 or less than 10 and that added some stress. I have since decided to let it go and it is whatever feels right or whatever is working for the season of life that is happening. One year my holiday "plans" were disrupted by an unexpected hospital stay and illness. Another year, my nephew and niece and I missed our gingerbread decorating tradition, so I sent them a Christmas in July note and package and even though we had the activity in summer I felt like I wanted it to be a part of my Holiday Faves album and included a copy of the silly Christmas in July note I sent.

I've already started scrapping this year and I'm excited to see what fun everyone else is doing.

Here are a few pages I have created. Pages are 6x8 and I plan to print in an 8x8 Shutterfly photobook.

I like to add filler pages using journal cards and large photos:

I might fail miserably this year... with sick kiddos week after week, I am just exhausted right now :(

Cheering you all on from the sidelines. lol

Krista those are gorgeous as usual. Sherly I hope you get some rest from sick kiddos!!!

I did mine slowly... now that everyone is not sick. It's supposed to be an 8x8 album.

I've only done 6 pages to document this year's December activities. I'm using 25 Days of December Delights to get me scrapping. I do consider some photos taken right at Thanksgiving and the week after part of our December memories.

Here are a few of the pages:

Love your pages! Will you print them as individual pages or print in a photobook?

I am creating photo collages using an app on my phone that is speeding up the process.

Here are a few more pages:

I'm enjoying the ability to go super simple, over the top, or somewhere in between as the mood takes me. I have at least one page for every day this month. Between this and the monthly challenges here, I'm a very busy bee!

It helps that I'm taking a slower pace with homeschool this month as I brace for everything I have to do in the new year. Scrapping is keeping me feeling productive and calm.

OT: Krista I have loved seeing the box photos theme make a comeback from years back. We are planning those for Christmas eve since most of us will be together that day.

I joked that this was the Christmas where we did ALL the trending photos! LOL
Did you take your box photos?

Love these pages! I too like allowing myself the freedom to do whatever moves me :)

You are amazing, Krista! Your album turns out gorgeous!
I still have a few pages I want to do you for my Holiday album, but I am happy to say that it is nearing finished. I am glad I decided to start it, despite how uninspired I was last month.
