December usually includes an awful lot of treats & sweets. If you could only choose ONE treat to have during the holidays what would it be. Bonus points if you share the recipe!

Oh I love sweets! So many are too yummy! Lately I have loved making (and eating haha) these Red Velvet Whoopie pies from Bakerella's blog. She has them posted for Valentine but being red they are perfect for Christmas too. They are super easy to make and oh so yummy!

Caution, these are addicting...

I could eat these all.the.time - Almond Bark Pretzels. Super easy and yummy. I don't put candy sprinkles on mine, but this is what they look like and here are the directions.

I love all the treats all the time . . . especially caramels. I've never made a successful batch myself, so I'm always happy when someone gifts me with some. Mmmmm. Caramel.

that would be my mama's soft molasses cookies with almond flavored icing and loaded with sprinkles... and a cup of hot black coffee... *drool* I'd share her recipe, but they are a guarded secret. ;)

or a butter press cookie... those are yummy too...

I make cinnamon spritz cookies every year -- a Martha Stewart recipe I found years ago that is a must-have for our family now.

Hmm, I really have no idea. I don't have one treat that stands out.... I'll go with my mother's cinnamon rolls on for breakfast. My grandma always made them and now my mom does when we have our family Christmas at my parents' house. I know, very boring. I'm not a huge sweets person so that's all I got :D

Yup - another one who loves the Peanut Butter Blossoms! And last year we made them with biscoff cookie spread so my son with the peanut allergy could enjoy them as well :)

dark chocolate mini cadburry eggs. I can't find the dark chocolate version this year, so milk will have to do.

I usually make some pralines or penuche...love it, but I won't eat much of it. Then there's the chocolate chip cheesecake balls for the family, and hubby makes pb fudge, which is good if you like fudge, which I don't.

I love peppermint bark although I don't make it...usually someone at my job makes it. I may try the recipe Carrie posted.

Mine would probably be Ghirardelli English Toffee (left)

Ghirardelli English Toffee

8 ounces Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Bar
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup salted butter (real butter only)
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350F. Spread the sliced almonds on a baking sheet in a single layer. Place in the oven and bake for about 6-8 minutes, stirring around the almonds about halfway through bake time.

With heavy-duty aluminum foil, form a 10-inch square shell with 1-inch high sides. Place the foil shell on a baking sheet. Take about 1/3 cup of the toasted almond slices and spread them on the foil.
In a heavy saucepan, cook the butter, sugar, water, and salt over medium heat until the temperature reaches 305F (hard-crack stage), stirring occasionally. Watch it very carefully! At 305F the mixture will be dark golden brown. Immediately remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into the foil shell and spread, if needed. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, or until hard.

Place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring well after each heating and being careful to not overheat. It’s best to stop when there are still some bits left unmelted in the bowl and stir until smooth. Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled toffee. Sprinkle with the remaining almonds, pressing lightly to set the almonds into the chocolate (I also sprinkled a bit of sea salt over top). Let set at room temperature 1 hour, or until the chocolate is set. Break toffee into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Texas Trash is totally a holiday tradition in my family. It is a kind of spicy Chex Mix that my mom got the recipe for from a friend. The secret ingredient is bacon grease. It has chili cheese fritos, nuts, potato sticks, pretzels. It is so good. I always get request to make it by co-workers.

I honestly don't really favor any holiday treats. I feel pretty lame making that statement, but it's the truth.

I can't even decide....... I make 25+ different sweets every year, and the list is always the same every year besides maybe one or two new things that I try so it's just not Christmas without all of them. :p
