Here are two of the black and white pictures that I have printed for the house along with their (sooc) color counterparts.
Here the black and white hides that her skin was kind of splotchy from crying (this was her second birthday photo shoot and she got MAD at me). It also helps soften the look of her healing scar on her cheek where she had gotten bit by a dog right after her first birthday. I LOVE the picture and I love the conversion used on it and I display it proudly, BUT the original picture still tugs at me. Those pink lips, that red hair and those big brown eyes. Oh my. In this case, I HAVE scrapped the black and white version (years ago, I think the kit I used was one of Traci Reed's sister's back when she was designing!) but I still feel drawn to scrapping the original because of the emotions it stirs up in me. The black and white version is timeless and classic and looks great on the shelf but the color one, well, that's my baby.
This one on the other hand, I am not as attached to the color image. His shirt didn't match his hat, his face was red from running around in the heat and you can barely see his red hair poking out of the hat. I bumped the contrast of the black and white to get rid of some of the shadowing from his hat and to better see those precious freckles. This is one I might be able to scrap in black and white without feeling guilty because I really am partial to it. I kind of feel like the conversion made the picture.
