Because I know you can understand...

Last August, we lost our computer (and TV, DVD player, modem) to lightning. We ended up buying a new iMac and as you can imagine, it was a long process recovering everything - thankfully I had back blaze and was able to get most everything back.

Flash forward to yesterday and my "new" computer won't turn on!! :crying: :cursing: I'm taking it to Apple on Wednesday, but all I can do is hope for the best. The thought that I will have to start over again makes me want to cry... Last time was worst case scenario, they couldn't retrieve anything. This time, I'm hoping its repairable - crossing my fingers but not holding my breath!

I'm sorry! Nothing worse than computer woes. Especially after you lost everything just a year ago. The silver lining is that the computer is probably still under warranty? Good luck!

OMGosh, I'm so sorry! :crying: Do you use Time Machine? If so, could you use that to restore/retrieve your files, if (worst case scenario) they can't be recovered by the Apple folks?

Oh, no! Do you still have Backblaze or another backup? I know it's a huge, time-consuming pain to get everything set back up, but at least it's not all truly gone forever. I hope they'll fix it for you under the warranty!

Oh no! Hopefully it's as simple as a new power adaptor... I had that happen to an old iMac. Good luck!

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! This is a good reminder for me to back all my stuff up. Aren't those Apple people supposed to know how to fix everything?

I don't have an external hard drive, so I don't use Time machine. But, I still have back blaze. Last time, I only lost two layouts (that I know of, lol). We bought this computer September 6 last year, so hopefully it is something the warranty will cover!!
