Back to School

Anyone else’s kiddos going back to school today?? So many big feelings!

We had such a good summer it was sad to see them go. Simultaneously I’m glad to have some quiet time. I’ve done a good job this summer of taking time for myself, but I’m one of those ambiverts who needs an inordinate amount of alone time to feel rejuvenated.

I can’t wait to hear about their first day back, but I know their transition back to school always comes with some growing pains so I’m enjoying the calm before the storm.

Man, we started on the 6th & I'm still bitter. Back in my day...we never started until after Labor Day...I miss those days!

Hope they had an awesome day!

My son has started back as well, but he is a teacher, not a student. Still, it always sends him into a tizzy of epic proportions, even though this year he is going to be tutoring on-line and teaching creative writing at IUSB, which he always likes. He just hates change of any kind.

Yeah, my kid's first day is also today. I just can't believe that she's in sophomore now, and in 3 years she'll be graduating from highschool. We missed the morning bus, I can't stop crying, so it's just her dad who drove her to school. So many feelings :crying::crying::crying:

My kiddos start Wednesday. It's a strange year for me too as my son will be a freshman (9th) and my daughter a senior (12th) so lots of firsts and lasts. I definitely agree with the calm before the storm- our calendar gets REAL crazy in September/October, so trying to just feel the feels and one day at a time here!

And I JUST got her senior photos back... so pretty and I can't wait to scrap them, but at the same time I'M NOT READY!!! :crying:

No. ha ha My daughter today said how weird it was not going back to school. She is still studying for CPA exams so she is at the library a lot, but no official school.

I hope everyone's kids had fun on their first day!

We're easing back into homeschool very slowly here. We have an IEP meeting next week and hopefully that will help me feel ready to buckle down a bit more. (We get a special ESE homeschooling scholarship and updating his IEP may open a few more doors to assistance.) Meanwhile, my mom is a teacher and has been back for 2+ weeks.

Mine don't start until next week... so we are enjoying this week of sleeping in to the fullest. My boy starts on Monday, my girl on Thursday due to some national parade happening... That'll give us gentle transition to school routine. ;)

School hasn't started here yet. They start next Monday. We're enjoying the final week of vacation.

We dropped our youngest off at College on Friday. That was hard. It's been hard when each of the girls has gone away to College, but this one was different. I have homeschooled her for the past 3 years, so it has felt like a part of myself has been missing! It's just been here and I for the past 3 years during the day while her sisters were away at College and my husband has been at Work. She is doing ok. Some homesickness (to be expected), she misses my food (umm...I am not a cook, so I think she just misses the familiarity of it). She is making friends, finding her way around, and getting by! Praying she has an amazing year (as do all your kiddos too!)

On Sat, we leave for CA to drop my 3rd oldest off to College for her Senior year! She will be in production meetings all day for the 1st few days we are there (Theater production), so we are going to have to go out and do all her shopping for her (shampoo and laundry detergent do not fly well!) We will also have to get her some quick meals and things too! Should be fun!

The oldest 2 are both graduated, so for them, it is just applying to different places to find jobs in their majors. I think they are both relieved they don't have to do all the BTS stuff.

Mine started college this week. It's very exciting, but he's definitely spending way more time on campus now, even though he lives at home. It's a weird transition realizing he's an adult and can totally do his own thing even though he's still living here.

I’m one of those ambiverts who needs an inordinate amount of alone time to feel rejuvenated.

We're out of the going back to school phase. There were times I never thought it would end, and then BAM! It was over. Enjoy the quiet moments!

I do have nieces and nephews who went back to school already. My biggest clue that school is in session is the yellow school bus train every day. They park at a nearby location, and then they all head out at one time, coming down the road towards us and then turning right or left. There are like 15 of them!

I'm also an ambivert that needs a ton of rejuvenating time. In addition to my personality, I also have chronic back pain and that limits not only my social interactions, but it also interrupts my alone time. :cursing:

I hope you find your groove!

Week one went so well! My youngest has the same teacher my oldest had, which is wonderful. His teacher last year wasn’t the best so it’s nice to see him excited about school. I had this fast forwarding fear that I was going to have to drag him out of bed for the next twelve years, but at least this year we’re off to a good start.

I got on the baby making train late in the game, so half of my friends have high schoolers/college students and the other half still have toddlers. Being in your 40s is wild like that.
