After Christmas shopping

Have any of you done any after Christmas shopping? I am heading to Michael's today with my sweet husband, Tod. :). Years ago we had a pastor and he and his wife only gave their adult girls a small gift at Christmas but gave them money. They would then hit the after Christmas sales and get a lot more for their money. :)

Not yet, although I'm heading to Target later today for our weekly grocery shopping and may grab a card or board game if it's on a good sale. I may need to swing into Michael's for more washi tape since my son loves to abscond mine.

I ventured out yesterday. There is a town about an hour south of us that has a lot of nice stores - Hobby Lobby - Bath & Body Works, Kohl's, etc. Normally my hubby goes with me, but he opted out so I had a nice leisurely day of shopping. I picked up a lot of great deals. Hobby Lobby was completely wiped out of Christmas and BBW didn't have the best selection of 75% off items, but both stores were crazy busy.

I'm in the process of 'redecorating' my office and kitchen and was able to find some great items 50 and 60% off.

Have fun on your day out Evelyn!!

We were at my parents for Christmas and yesterday my husband went to buy a new microwave since ours died early in december. (we have had the worst luck with appliances... we haven't had our actual oven working for a few years (stovetop works just not the oven). FINALLY ordered one 1.5 months ago and it still isn't here yet :P) Where we live we don't have stores like walmart or anything like that so we waited until we were there to see what was on sale for boxing day

Up until a few years ago boxing day was our really big sales day of the year, Canada started to have black friday type sales a few years ago (maybe more than a few... time is weird) I think Canada started having black friday sales to sort of keep shoppers here. We don't have anything like that for our Thanksgiving which is in October.

I have noticed that this year there really doesn't seem to be a lot of huge deals.

I wasn't planning on it, but LL Bean sent me a sale email and I found a fleece jacket and a long sleeve t shirt

I picked up a bag of Reese's trees from the 50% off isle in the grocery store today. And, I finally used my 50% off coupon from the summer event here at SSD. Woot!
Have fun at Michaels!

Boxing Day is HUGE here in Australia :D
It's always crazy busy and being on Friday this year makes the whole weekend a busy shopping weekend everywhere :w00t:

and similar like Kristin said, we don't have Black Friday sale previously here in Australia but for the past few years the shops started doing them so in a way, I think the deals are better during the Black Friday sale because the things in boxing day usually just 'leftovers' from then. :D

I haven't been to the shops though ;) - my daughter, Rachel works at a shoe shop on weekends and she told me it's super busy there.
I don't need anything so if I'm going to avoid the shops so I don't get tempted :D

I went to Michaels as well to spend a little Christmas money and a rewards coupon. :D

I plan to go thrifting/antiquing next week with my girlfriend, which will dent my Christmas cash haha.

I RARELY do after-Christmas shopping unless I NEED something specific. I have found over the years that I wind up buying stuff that I really don't need, and I hate fighting the crowds.

I did not this year... I spent way too much pre-Christmas. Also the sales aren't as great this year as has been in the past.

I haven't done any this year either. In fact, this year I have promised myself that I will shop less and spend less money. I like stuff and I can spend a lot of money in the blink of an eye, which is really bad for me and my bank account. LOL

This is the same for the UK. Boxing Day sales were THE best with lots of great deals. The import of Black Friday has had a big impact here.

Plus, I've usually spent up before Christmas on needs and wants and presents for others and myself. I have big expenses due on home renovations so I am trying hard to reign in my spending. It helps that I now live in a much smaller home with limited storage so it's not possible to keep buying 'things' with nowhere to put them.

I remember being without an oven for quite a while too, luckily I already had one of larger combination microwaves (has conventional cooking options with grill function as well) so that and the hob kept us going. In fact, when that microwave broke last year I bought the latest equivalent because having that functionality as back up is really helpful!

My mom and I used to shop for ornaments at Hallmark stores the day after Cmas. I loved it and thought it would be something I would do with my own kids. But I usually opt for staying home and resting. My Girls did go out this year for clothes and makeup.
