Default Advice for Yellowstone Trip

I'm in the final stages of planning our Yellowstone trip this July and am a little stumped on how many nights we should stay in Grand Teton, Dinosaur National Park & Salt Lake City.

We're flying into Bozeman on a Thursday, staying in Yellowstone for 5 nights then planning to drive down through Grand Teton then veer southeast to Vernal to Dinosaur National Park, then head west to Salt Lake City to leave the next Saturday.

So my plan is to spend 1 night near Grand Teton in Jackson, 1 or 2 nights in Vernal and 1 or 2 nights in SLC. We have to be in SLC on Friday night as our flight leaves 11 AM on Saturday.

Which would be better to spend 2 nights in, Vernal or SLC? Can you do the basics in Dinosaur in a day? Keep in mind I've got two teenagers who are not into the outdoors so they may be hitting their limits by then!

Oh, my gosh. Can we go with you? lol My youngest son would LOVE that trip.

Sorry that I don't have any advice, though.

OH I loved Yellowstone & SLC! I would say an extra day in SLC may be better just because if they are 'over' the outdoors- you're in a more urban area to do other stuff. We did really enjoy spending an afternoon at Antelope Island State Park on Salt Lake.

That's kind of what I'm leaning towards, thanks for the state park tip!

We had an amazing time in Yellowstone in 2020, but we did a road trip, so we drove from Michigan, stopped in South Dakota to see the Badlands, spent 3 days in Yellowstone and saw some hot spots in Grand Teton on our drive back home.

Ooh fun! Have an amazing time! Grand Teton was just a drive through for us on our way out of Yellowstone, and we didn't go to the other 2 places, so I am no help!

I was trying to convince my husband to take two weeks and do a big circle that started/ended in Denver but after our two weeks in Alaska last year he didn't want to take that much time off again.

We'd prefer to spend more time in Dinosaur so Grand Teton is going to be just a drive through for us as well; we'll spend there just enough time to stop at the Visitor's Center and get our passport stamp!
