Default Printing question?

OK, so I am new to digital scrapbooking and I'm totally addicted to it. My question is where do you have your LO's printed at and what printing paper do you prefer? Also, how much do they normally cut off? Some pages I have pictures and elements close to the edge and I do not want it clipped. Any ideas? How much room do I leave around the edges/borders? Is there a template I can use that will show me where the cut off is?

Thanks again for all your help.

I use scrapbookpictures.com when they have a sale. I scrap in 12x12, resize to 8x8, an they never cut anything off They have flat $2 shipping which I love.

Others here use scrappingsimply.com which is $5 shipping, but a little cheaper in printing, and has the same policy about not cutting off photos.

Both sites get great reviews for quality and service.

Then you have sites like snapfish.com, artscow, costco, sams, walgreens, etc. www.whcc.com is a pro site that some folks use as well, though quite a bit pricier.

I used to use Sams exclusively because I was always happy with the quality and price til I used Scrapbookpictures.com once...and I will just wait for a sale now

I use Scrapbook Pictures when they have a sale. If I need something NOW I use Costco.

However I did have my calendars printed at Artscow last year and I LOVE the way they turned out - however, they lost 2 of my 3 calendars and had to reship them which took about a month and a half.

Well, dang, Darcy. You sure said it all. ;-)

I upload my layouts as I finish them to my gallery at Scrapping Simply so that when they have a sale OR when I have a big order, I can just place my order and get my prints.

Right now I am doing a bound album through MyPicTales, but I recommend doing bound albums on themed albums, not, say, your 2007 album or baby's first year, because you will always realize you need to make ONE MORE PAGE and it will never get printed...and once it does get printed, I feel certain I will realize there was some story that got left out.

LOVE them! I've never been disappointed in their quality and I've had about 300 layouts printed by them. I highly recommend them and will only print from them from now on.

I have tons more printed at Costco and nearly half are horrible- colors are off, edges cut off, etc. Every costco is different though, so you'll hear a variety of experiences about them.

I'm boring, I do books at Shutterfly. I've never noticed a problem with them cutting anything off, except maybe if it's the edge where they bind. They are pricey, but I wait for free shipping and discount deals to overlap.

I keep giant spreadsheets of what pages I want to do each month (photo numbers, date, kit idea, title if I have one), that way, I never 'forget' a page or story...even if it takes me a year to come back and actually scrap it.

I also use scrapbookpictures.com, but I don't resize. I just upload my 12x12s and order them in 8x8 and nothing is ever cut off. Very easy!
