Default PL-Additional random LOs

I'm working on my first project life book this year, and I'm super excited.
I find that I have some layouts, which aren't in the same set up as PL with the cards, and inserts, but are "traditional" 12 X 12 layouts of a specific event.
I don't want to put them in a separate album for that year.
Do any of you think it would be way too much to include those in my Project life albums?
I'm making it hybrid so there is no obstacle in including them in my albums.
I'm just worried that it would take away from the over all effect and look of the project life book.
Then again, I also think that that's pretty much where those layouts belong.

Does anyone else do this?
Is this a complete no-no?
Please help.

Thanks!
Natalia

Hi Natalia! Project Life is whatever you want it to be. It's a record of your year. If you want to include layouts in your book, go for it! There are no hard and fast rules - you do what feels right for you.

Do what you want! I've done 3 "extra" pages so far that document birthdays and seasons. I'm just randomly putting them in my album. I am doing them using the PL format (4x6 and 3x4s) but they really don't follow "the rules" I'm using for my Project Life. I'm allowing myself to step a little out of my box with those inserts.

I totally agree with the others... it's how you want it be... that is what is the awesome thing about PL! I loved what marla did with her 2012 book... she had weekly pages and then added extra pages and it is fabulous!!

this is my first year doing PL and am having sooo much fun with it! i'm already going crazy adding extra inserts & PL inspired pages along with some of my favorite layouts from certain weeks. i love that you can do your own thing & make it yours.

and thanks so much for that link Rebecca! totally love what Marla did... so inspiring!

I am 'only' doing one PL page per week and including them in my regular album with non-PL pages. I have not done it before, but I think I will like the chaotic look. That's what Life is like, right?

Go for it!

I'm planning to mix my regular 12x12 LOs in. I like having everything together and was inspired to make it work after Marla showed hers last month. I'm using the divided pocket pages for my weekly PL LOs, and I don't want to put the 12x12s in the center of a 2-page week (as an insert); I think it would break up the week too much. Here's how I finally decided to arrange my album:
  • Lots of January PL 2-page LOs
  • Use the "back" of the last pocket page for photographed art and school work the kids made in January and a few favorites cards (I'll ask everyone a different question or 2 each month, like their favorite book in Jan and their favorite restaurant and best friend in Feb)
  • All my Jan and Feb 12x12s
  • 1 pocket page of Feb art, schoolwork, and faves
  • Lots of Feb PL 2-page LOs
I plan to continue doing this every 2 months, so I'll have groupings for Jan/Feb LOs, March/April LOs, etc.

I just did an extra 2 page spread of my son's special school trip to science camp that I plan to just stick into my PL for this month. I scrapbook chronologically so I like to have everything in one place (Project Life) and am not fussy about format.

I use 12x12 layouts against a 1 page PL page, like here:

I also split up the 4 6x6 pages into different layouts:

Here I cut up a 12x12 layout into 4 6x6 squares:

Here I cut the 4 6x6 protector in half and used it as an insert with 2 6x6 layouts (resized from 12x12) on each side:

I also do 8.5x11 layout inserts:

I have been struggling with what to do with my pages. i have been scrapping P365/Plife weekly (and some monthly) and some "day in the life" layouts since like 2009 and have Nothing printed.

I'm determined to get my things printed and had thought about doing a printed photobook - however that brought the question of what to do with all my other layouts. having an album + a photobook.

Recently while working on my 2013 PL pages, there's some things I want to include like my niece's 1st bday invite and a friends "celebration of life" momento. I am now convinced that I need to print my pages and put them into an album and include ALL my yearly things there.

It's also exciting to me because I think having it printed as a I go will help keep me motivated.
