option #1
text: My father was trained as a cabinetmaker and made furniture in the garage of my childhood home. I have always loved the smell of the wood he worked on. When I moved into our house in 1984, I too had the idea of ??getting into woodworking. My husband said to me: "Okay, but you start small, in case you miss it. It is too expensive in raw oak". So I enrolled in a carpentry workshop, where I had my workbench and where we could find all the necessary tools: professional bandsaw, a large machine (jointer, planer, mortiser, chamfer ...), and those pesky hand plane blades etc. In short, I therefore made my plans on paper with all the dimensions for a living room table and hop purchase of rough sawn oak trays (carpentry drying) and oak rafters (cabinetry drying) and it was time for an apprenticeship on the heap. As it was successful, I had the right to make all the furniture in the living room: a large farmhouse table, a low sideboard, a high sideboard, all in solid oak then stained honey. I had sacred blisters on my hands (then callus) LOL but what a personal satisfaction. Then, I made my son's bedroom in beech (I will never work this wood again, it is much harder than oak), bed, wardrobe and bedside cabinet, and finally, 2 desks (1 for my daughter and 1 for my son) in salvaged pine. Then, I stopped ... too much backache (it is because these wooden trays are heavy, even when we are helped) herniated disc with plaster of the bust from the underside of the chest for 3 months and lying down for 1 month with injections every day to avoid phlebitis. The specialist told me "either you stop, or the next time, it's the operation with a metal plate to bind the vertebrae .... I chose the 1st option. It's over for me and on the photo LOL it's me in overalls (I don't often put pictures of myself LOL) |

Thanks to everyone that played along today. You should have Meagan's portion of the mega-collection in your PMs.
