What a way to start the day
Let me just preface this by saying I'm very, VERY thankful for my luck this morning.
I've been commuting from my small town to the city 40 km away for the last 11.5 years. It takes about 30 minutes - That's 3028 workdays that I've done this drive. Today - I pulled into the first set of lights in the city, it was red so I stopped. A minute later I saw green, so I went. I saw a fast moving vehicle coming from my right and my thought was "Holy Sh!T he's running the red light!" and slammed on my brakes. Then I looked up and realized *I* was running the red light. The green light I saw was for the cross lane traffic, NOT for my way. I was about 1.5 seconds away from being T-boned, and it would have 100% been my fault. I don't think anything like that has happened before, unless I did it and didn't remember doing it because there were no unintended consequences. I drive in early, so I'm arriving at the city around 7:15 am and traffic is light, thank goodness!
