Finally Tried Pocket Scrapping!
I've resisted pocket scrapping for a long time. I just LOVE traditional type scrapping and art journaling styles. But I just haven't been happy creating the monthly summaries for my son. They were boring, tedious, and I didn't look forward to them. It was just work, rather than inspiration to tell an awesome story!
Over the years, I've tried several types of templates to make the monthly summaries more fun. Some photo heavy, some more word heavy. None of them captured my interest. But seeing all your wonderful pocket scrapping pages started me thinking that perhaps those summary pages would lend well to pocket scrapping. Plus all those awesome cards that ya'll are including in new kits. So I thought I would give it a go. I pulled out one of Traci's freebies from a LONG time ago, looked up the shadowing tutorial and got busy. They look great! And I think this will be a lot more fun than the other way I was doing it. Thanks gals! I think the main moral of the story is that "There is a scrapping style to fit every situation!" Here's a peek:

I have found there's room for both styles. I'm doing Project Life to capture those random everyday moments when I just snapped one picture. For for the stories that have lots of pictures, or the ones where more details are needed, I make a regular digi page. It's been a good balance and I find I have more enthusiasm for memory keeping in general...

Your pages look great!
I have a gift album that I really need to do and I was thinking that pocket scrapping would be the way to go. This may be enough of a push to just do it. |

that looks great! way to go! and it makes me happy to hear about scrappers pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and trying new things, it's a great way to learn more about why you like certain things and stretching your style!

Your pages are beautiful. I was trying to do the same thing as you: record monthly memories for my kids and then I got so far behind because it was so much work to do. Now I do weekly pocket pages and they're so simple. I love pocket scrapping.
