Default 1st birthday invite?

So, my baby is almost ten months and I just started planning his first birthday party. (SOB). He's my last baby and my second didn't get to have a 1st birthday party because he was hospitalized.

We are therefore doing everything and anything I want. :-)

What kit would you use for the invitation? Pictures? No Pictures? Any templates out there?

I'm scared I'll screw it up, I want it to be perfect.

Kennedy's 1st bday is Valentine's day and for her party we are doing Mickey & Minnie themed. I have a bunch of ideas on my pinterest board; It's Party Time.

I made my own invites, no picture.

I didn't use a kit for them, I made the head myself in photoshop, found the other stuff for free online.

Kennedy's my first baby, so I decided regardless of what everyone else thought/thinks I'm doing her party how I want.

I love photo invitations, so that's almost always what I send out. Sometimes I modify a card template (because most aren't designed for a photo) or crop and modify a full size template. Other times I scraplift the composition of something I find online. Here are a few I've done, but I don't have any good 1st birthday ones to share. My boys' first birthday invitations are too old and dated, and my youngest I was too busy and didn't do one since only close relatives were invited and they were going to be here for the entire weekend.

My baby is nine months old now and I started planning her party too.

Her theme is going to be Sweet Shoppe and here's the invite I made for her party

I'm going to change the photo to a more recent one when I'm ready to have them printed but this is the final design. There's lots of fun ideas in Pinterest as usual, I pinned a bunch that I'm going to try to do.

For our 1st birthdays I just did a small family party so I didn't need a true theme, just decorations and a cake. I started by choosing the plates and paper goods because I knew I wanted things that were specifically for a first birthday, then I worked with that for the colors and theme. Jason's had bears and rockets, Ben's had trains, planes, and cars, and Lauren's was lots of balloons and typical birthday stuff. Other early themes we did for the boys were animals, Thomas the Tank Engine, and construction.

I'm thinking we're going to do a monster party for Matthew...here are some of the ideas I've pinned:

AND I totally do photos on my invitations, too.

My little guy will be 2 at the end of March and is a little money too so I'm going with a Sock Monkey theme. I plan on using this kit by Heather Roselli for the invitations and some decorations.

The invite I did for my daughter's birthday wasn't really scrappy but it had pictures of her from each month of her first year. I modelled it on invites at the In A Baby Carriage site. I loved how it turned out.

a monkey theme sounds very cute!! I did that for my girl's 2nd birthday. I forget what I did for invites though (if I even sent them out LOL) I would do a photo card - everyone loves to hang them on the fridge, and a picture makes it extra cute!

Have you seen the monkey that's on carter's clothes this year? THAT's the monkey I want.

http://ajsmoonlightbakery.net/tiered_cakes

About halfway down is a 1st birthday cake with a monkey on it.

That's what I am looking at.

I think that monkey would be so cute!

When DS turned one, I picked out the theme and used his plates and napkins scanned in to make the invitations. I then did a collage of pics from him from each month on it. I loved how it turned out. I don't have a copy on this computer but I'll see if I can find one later.
