Default one click purchase on amazon?

Not having any little kids in the house I did not think having the one click shopping thing on Amazon turned on would be a problem. I know if I purchase something through it there is no confirmation or anything and only click it when Im positive I want to buy something. Well apparently my husband does not know this .

He was looking for a part for our car (lower right control arm) and apparently hit that button instead of add to cart and we are being charged 67 dollars for the part. He said he meant to click the add to cart to see how much shipping was. As soon as I saw it I checked to see if I could cancel the order but I guess I did not catch it soon enough.

It is for the wrong side though...we needed right side and this one is for the left side. He got the right side ordered at the same price throough another vender. He said the left side does not need replaced but I guess since he ordered it might as well replace it too at the same time.

I turned off the one click shopping to avoid it happening again. Im still not sure how he ordered it though because I usually have to log in to buy something. Maybe I was still logged in...Im not sure.

Amazon makes it so easy to place orders, huh?! When I do One-click, I don't need to log in again, but when I put something in my cart and go there, I have to re-log in. Amazon is really good about returns, if you don't really need it, I would send it back. What a pain!

I emailed the company because it is an outside vendor so hopefully the return will be easy if he does decide to return it. I never thought to tell anyone not to click the one step order thing LOL. I figured since we have two teenagers and two adults everyone would all know not to click it.

One of DH's friends was showing off an app where he could take a picture of a book, it would find the book on Amazon, and he could order it. Well, he accidentally hit the one-click button and thought "oh well, I was interested in that book." A couple days later the full-frame camera that he was watching in his cart came in the mail. Yeah....

I told DH that he is lucky he could afford it and doesn't have a wife. We hate one-click ordering!

So glad you were able to cancel the order!

wow that must have set him back a pretty penny!! Im glad it was something small and not a major purchase for us. The thing that I would have hated is I would have had to pay for shipping both ways which was close to 15 dollars one way and that would have been a lot of money for a part we did not even really need

OMG one-click ordering scares the heck out of me even when I DO mean to use it. I always obsessively check every single order and go over all the details and everything 584930545783439948 times in the 30 minutes they allow you to change something. LOL

I really only use Amazon for music and books so if I accidentally ordered something it would maybe only be a few dollars. I honestly didnt even know you could order car parts on Amazon LOL. Usually we get them through a company called Rock Auto because they are unbelievably cheap on their parts. Well anyhow I kinda figured if my husband could accidentally order something using the one click thing so could one of my sons so I turned it off and made sure I was logged out this time!!

That's wonderful that the other vendor was able to cancel the order.

I order from Amazon all of the time (including food products like Bob's Red Mill) but one click ordering scares me. I don't think I will ever turn it on.

I'm not a fan of 1-Click ordering either. So glad they were able to resolve it!

See, I love one click ordering, but I also have two amazon accounts...one just for my kindle, the other one for the family. I only have one click with the kindle, lol!

Oh I loved it for when I bought music online it made it really easy. I just never figured I would have to worry about someone making a purchase besides me LOL.

The bad thing is he keeps saying he only clicked the add to cart button not the one step purchase one. I wasnt on amazon so I know it wasnt me. Not that I was mad because if he did I know its because he didn't know about the one click thing on there.

My 6 year old actually ordered a trampoline the other day! Out of the regular cart function. I asked him how he did it he said that when it asked for my passward he just assumed it was XXXXX and unfortunately he was right. I immediately changed the password to something extremely random and complicated. Unfortunately, I can't remember it now either. Luckily, I canceled it in time!
