Default Worlds worst mother/ hairdresser

I have just pretty much scalped my son.

I usually do a pretty good job cutting his hair, but I was so distracted today by the usual fuss when it comes to haircutting time, that I used the wrong setting on the clippers. BIG, HUGE ooops.

He has naturally nice thick hair, but now barely has enough fuzz to cover his scalp. I feel soooo bad about it - and even worse as my boy is being so nice about it!

Anyone else been there and done that?

oooops! my brother-in-law took my nephew to get his hair cut the other week and told them to use the '1' setting on the clippers instead of the '2' or '3' that they normally do ... my sister-in-law was so upset! (she almost cried each time she looked at him for a few days!) i thought he looked really cute though!! i love short hair on boys - especially in the summer and it grew out to a more "normal" length so quickly ... so i'm sure it will be fine in just a couple of weeks ...

at least your son is being good about it and now you'll have a funny story to scrap

So sorry about the bad haircut! My kids both have super straight hair and I have been cutting it for them their whole lives. And we have had more than a couple bad haircuts, too.

Don't feel too bad--at least it will grow back (eventually) and think what a great scrap opportunity this is!

I am waiting to see the pictures of before & after!

I used to trim my DD's bangs myself. Then once I did such a BAD job that when took her in to get if fixed they asked if she cut her own hair . Now she just gets a bang trim by the pros every two months.

That's ok, its summer and I am sure his hair grows fast. Boys always seem to have their hair grown out in like a month. We just shaved my boy's normally long hair to a short buzz cut. He still looks adorable and I am sure your boy does, too.

Awwww, Sara!! Sorry about that little incident! My hubs cut Whit's hair just ONCE and I swore never again! It was all gapped up and just looked awful, awful, awful! At least it will grow out quick.

But, you might just end up liking the short buzz!!! Especially for summer, right?!?

Just wanted to say congrats on your new gig! Hugs to you!

I did it once to one of my boys. He had used the scissors and cut a chunk out of the front, so I thought I'd buzz him and make it not so noticable. I borrowed my friends clippers, and being that I didn't know you had to put the guards on them, I just started shaving! OMG...I cried and cried. He was so thin too, and then he only had striped pj's from Hannah Anderson's...so he looked like a someone in a prison concentration camp (which made me cry more)!! Thankfully it all grows out...and now that he is all grown, we shave his head quite regularly...about a 3 now though!!

Thanks so much Leigh - I'm still doing a happy dance about it

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I was so upset about his lovely hair (and dreading DH seeing - but he just tried not to laugh!). Alex suddenly looks sooo grown up, not my little boy anymore; and he is very impressed with how quickly he can wash and dry his own (extra short) hair now - we've played up how great this is 'cos we go swimming lots. He is quite chilled about it all - its just his Mother typically stressing about it!

Aww, I think little guys look adorable with buzz cuts, and they're such a low maintenance cut for the summer. Plus their hair always grows so fast. I wouldn't worry about it at all... you may well end up loving it!

Well, I've cut JP's hair so close to the scalp that I discovered a bald spot. Oh, and when he was two, I was trying to trim the hair near his ear and um..cut his face.

I don't have boys, but I have done a horrible job on triming bangs. I live it up to the pros from now on. Growing up I had 4 brothers and my dad always gave them the buzz cut for the summer.. I love a buzz cut on boys!
