My friend's son recently had it. On top of his antibiotic he gave him Mucinex cough expectorant during the day and the Mucinex suppressant/expectorant for bedtime. She also gave him Oscillococcinum (a homeopathic medicine to help with flu-like symptoms) because he was feeling achey and fatigued from being sick for so long. Seemed to work great and he recovered quite quickly.

I've had it. I was given antibiotics and albuterol for my nebulizer. I was also told to take it easy and rest.
If he can cough it out, that's great. If not, give him an expectorant and a cough syrup. But, it should be something like Robittusson. |

My 6 year old has had pneumonia three times and it's awful. Her cough wasn't productive. She had mucinex and antibiotics and finally the had to give her 2 big rocephin (spelling?) shots. It was bad. Thick liquid and needles- and they told us she wouldn't be able to walk for a few hours and they were right. That said, it had gotten to such a point that she recommended NOT talking her to the hospital as she was so susceptible to catching something else in her weakened state. All that to say, be sure to consult your doc too. Hope he's feeling better soon!

My daughter had pneumonia at the beginning of the year and she was also given rocepherin. It helped her a lot.
