Page Sizing Q
Ok, I hope this is not a dumb Q... I started an 8x8 scrapbook a few months ago for a gift that has been sitting on the back burner but I need to get it done. I finally went and scanned the rest of the pictures today and am going to finish it digitally. So, when I create my LO what size canvas should I use? 8x8 is what I assume but want to make sure before I do anything.
Thanks!! |

Personally, even if I intend to print 8x8, I scrap 12x12 so I don't have to resize every paper and element individually. Then when I save it, I resize to 8x8.

ok, so here's another q... once your all done and want to resize what is the best way to do that without losing the quality? i would prefer to start with a 12 x12 too.

I just resize to 8x8. There is no noticeable change in quality at all. Now, if you were scrapping 6x6 and were increasing to 12x12, you might lose quality. But going 12x12 to 8x8 isn't going to effect it at all. It's how I do it, as well.

Ditto. Sizing down is all good, but you don't want to size up, so I'd rather have both options available from the start.

I actually start with an 8x8 document for everything, unless I'm doing a special project or gift or something. I've gotten pretty good at resizing quickly! It just helps me get an idea of just how much I can fit on a page without making it feel too crowded - if I start with a 12x12 page and then size it down to print, it winds up feeling cramped to me, KWIM? But that could just be my incomptence!
Here's a tip, especially if you're using a lot of papers: I resize the paper down to 8x8 before I ever drag it into my LO by going to Image->Resize, and putting in 8x8 instead of 12x12. Then, hold down Shift when you're dragging it in, and it will center it perfectly on the page for you. |
