Doing anything for St Patrick's?
We don't normally do anything for St Patrick's other than maybe try to wear something green. We have no Irish heritage and I'm not a huge fan of the traditional foods people tend to eat on St Patrick's day, like corned beef and soda bread. I did smile when a fast food place gave me a green lemonade yesterday.
What about you -- do you "celebrate" St Patrick's Day in any way? |

I do have Irish heritage but don't do anything special. We never ate the traditional foods when I was growing up. When I worked I would try to wear green but I don't really have that color in my wardrobe anymore. I do have a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" pin on my bulletin board. It was from high school days so over 45 years old!
I think I might have gone to one party for St Patrick's Day in my life. I was never into big parties and didn't run in a crowd that celebrated it. |

As I don't like corn beef, I made Dublin Coddle... it smells so good. I don't have any Irish in my... but my husband does (his mom's side are O'Quinns - but dropped the O when they came to the US).

Back in the day we'd always go to a pub to hang out and drink Guinness. These days we either spend it with friends, or more recently, just hang out at home. We wear our green t-shirts and drink Guinness. If it's sunny we'll sit outside for the afternoon, but unfortunately it's raining here today, so we'll be staying indoors. I'm making a shepherd's pie for dinner.
A little leprechaun left treats for my daughter this morning in the form of a candy rainbow, as well as a green t-shirt and some fun themed socks, so she was thrilled. Hubby got a candy rainbow too. Now I just need to figure out how to get that leprechaun to leave me treats too! LOL |

At home our only acknowledgement of it is serving the kids Lucky Charms for breakfast. That's a big deal to them since we usually stick to boring, healthy cereals.
School is a different story. A leprechaun visited my classroom this morning. He moved everything around, wrote messages for us, left footprints and glitter, turned the toilet water green, and left us [plastic] jewels and gold in little black pots. It was a fun day, but my preschoolers were soooo hyped up from it all!

No! We used to - always went to some bar and drank green beer LOL Now, I don't even know it's St. Patrick's Day until I see it online.

I hate stupid holidays. No offense to all the people who love to find a reason to celebrate. It's something I admire in other but can't be bothered to do in my own life. Maybe part of it is because I've spent my adult life overseas where things like Valentine's Day & St. Patrick's Day aren't really a thing.

I get that--how sad is it that I celebrate with my kids at school but have never done anything more than serve Lucky Charms at home?
