Default Jasper National Park is on fire..

With all of the national parks in canada - Banff and Jasper in Alberta are well known across the world as musts for people to visit when they travel.. Jasper is currently on fire and wow is it heartbreaking to see

I have not been able to visit Jasper in many years but I have fond memories of camping there with Darcy pre kiddos, back when we lived much closer.

Think good thoughts that they are able to get it contained. All that history and nature just gone

I had just read about this. So sad! When we were up there doing Banff & lake Louise & moraine we didn't have time to do jasper so it's still on our list. So sad!

So many fires around us right now too- it's smokey already. There's a decent fire on the highway we take to go over White Pass to get to my moms house. Going around means we then have to go thru seattle & all the traffic that we hate. I hate fire season.

So sad! I still remember you sending me photos of you heading out to the dentist? last year and it was just on fire in the distance in your town. Wildfires are so so scary! I hope they're able to get this under control so not too much more is lost.

The wildfires are bad yet again this year. I remember when our Columbia Gorge here in Oregon caught fire thanks to a boy throwing a firecracker in the woods. There are now miles of dead trees out there.

I saw the fire in Jasper and understand all that will be lost in it.

At least a few days ago, Oregon had the biggest fire. In fact another is burning further along the Columbia Gorge right now. Not sure if Jasper or the ones in California have taken over that spot at this point. (I live in Oregon) Now days when we think of driving trips, we also think about whether there will be fires in the way of getting to places or what if one starts while we are there.

I seriously wonder how anyone thinks global warming is not happening when we look at the fire disasters and other weather related disasters that seem to happen daily now.

The fires are so bad this year, and this recent heat wave did nothing to help. I love Jasper, although live closer to Banff so go there more often. Praying for all the people affected!

The world is really in a bad state right now, sadly. Wild fire over there and lots of floods over here. It's been a weird summer here

You know how much I love that part of the world and it breaks my heart to see the devastation. I hope they're able to contain it quickly.

Such changes lately, it seems every year we now deal with wildfire smoke from Canadian or Montana wildfires. We are so far to get that smoke.

We were in California when the Park fire happened in Chico CA. The largest fire this year in CA. It stopped us from going to Lassen Volcanic National Park and it looks like the fire is heading to the park as of yesterday. Sadly this one started bc some guy lit his car on fire and shoved it down a hill. It tripled in size in just 24 hours. It nows covers over 300,000 acres! We had to abandon our plans bc of air quality alerts and head south below the fires since they were blowing north. Normal air quality is 30 to 60 or so and it was well in to the 400s in the area we were supposed to be staying.

I know fires can be good for the wildlife but it awful when it gets out of control and structures are burned or lives are lost. Hoping they get the Jasper fire under control quickly. <3

that's scary kimberly!! I feel almost as if now when planning a vacation the early the better because it seems as though anytime after the middle/end of july the skies are going to be bad

Thankfully the fire in Jasper did not destroy the entire town, 30% which is better than the original reports were suggesting.

I have been watching our firemap because there's just no telling when another fire is going to pop up.

Oh no! That's terrible

We've had so many big fires this year. Our air quality has been awful. It doesn't help that we had 2 weeks at about 100 or over. We've had some relief the past few days (in the 90s) but are supposed to go back to 100 at the end of the week. I'm so ready for fall!

Heartbreaking. I had a wonderful experience touring Jasper National Park back in 2019. I am glad to hear that the damage isn't worse, but I'm sure it's been devastating nonetheless. Prayers for healing and rebuilding.
