No, not weird at all.
I almost had one of my chickens euthanised. She was slowly dying and I couldn't bear to drag it out so I rang the vet and arranged to take her in. She died before I got there though. I can't bear animals suffering... I'm the person who will pick a worm up off a footpath and move it to dirt or grass so so it won't get trodden on.
