That is such a hard situation to negotiate! You have been living separate lives for a long time; Joel and I have trouble living together again when he's just gone for a week! I can't imagine adding inlaws to the mix & being separated for so long. Give yourself (and your MIL!) so much grace for a while; you both deserve it. I know you looked forward to being reunited so much, and I'm sure it must be challenging and wonderful and disappointing at the same time.
