I have an alphabet folder where I keep standalone alphas and previews of alphas that are part of a kit but that I think I would use again. If there's no preview of the alpha in the kit, I'll either make one by taking a screen shot or put a copy of the A in my alphabet folder. Good luck finding a system that works for you!
