I think I'm genX? I like carpet in the living areas and prefer wood/tile/linoleum in places like the kitchen and bathroom. We have a darker brown carpet in our living room and bedrooms/hall and I like it. It does not show dirt and keeps our feet so much warmer. Our living room and one bedroom are over an unheated garage so there is no way we'd survive without carpet.
