What's your favorite dessert?

I'm always amazed at how different DH and I are on our dessert preferences. My favorite dessert involves some sort of molten chocolate lava cake or hot, gooey brownie with vanilla ice cream. My hubby doesn't like that at all -- he's more of a fruit crisp kind of person. Neither of us like Tiramisu - I just don't get that one at all even though I like both coffee and chocolate.

So, what is your favorite dessert?
What kinds of desserts do you NOT like (if any :D)?

If it fits, I eats.

Really, though, I do like everything. I may have a slight preference for melty, gooey, chocolatey, but I like fruity and creamy and crispy and frozen too. It can be a problem, lol!

Before Mom died in 1996, my parents and I would go to a restaurant that had the best prime rib and for desert I always had their chocolate/peanut butter pie. It was to die for. Sadly the restaurant has been closed for many years.

A co-worker would bring a chocolate/peanut butter concoction to carry-ins that was pretty darn close to that pie. But he left a few years before I retired so it's been a long time since I had it.

But when it comes down to it, I'm not really much of a dessert eater. On holidays I like pumpkin pie. In season I like strawberry pie. As for cake, it has got to be chocolate cake with chocolate icing.

Billy Miner pie from the Keg! If not going there I really like Angel Food cake with whipped cream and sprinkled with broken Skor bits.

I'd say my favourite is a really good chocolate mousse, with a little dab of real whipped cream. Honestly, I love a bite or two of most desserts but that's usually enough. They're usually too rich or too sweet for my liking. I'd rather just have a little chocolate caramel or a couple squares of good chocolate, just to satisfy that sweet tooth. I don't like coffee flavoured things, or anything with coconut (except Nanaimo bars... yum!)

I used to love chocolately gooey desserts but I grew out of it at some point - they are just too sweet and rich for me. My ultimate favorites are: Key Lime Pie (although this can be too sweet for me- sometimes I only have a bite and share with someone), Tiramisu, angel food cake with sliced strawberries/bananas and whipped cream, cheesecake (New York style with strawberries, raspberry, or banana), carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and apple pie!

I don't know - I have a big sweet tooth. The last few years I gravitate to cookies. I'm not a huge fan of brownies. Cake for me is a birthday thing - and I usually ask for carrot cake for my birthday. Tuesday is my son's birthday and grandma (my mom) is making cherry chocolate cupcakes and a mandarin orange cake that my great aunt would always make my mom for her birthday. I'm also not a big pie person - I like lemon and pumpkin... but I don't go out of my way for them.

My husband isn't a big desert person... he rather have something savory like chex mix.

I was just thinking of this the other day. My husband always wants baklava for his birthday and my son always wants cake. I never request anything specific for my birthday. I am not sure I have a true favorite, but I know it's not a chocolate dessert. I prefer apple crisp, pumpkin pie, fruity stuff. I do love a good, real Tiramisu though, or a cheesecake.

I have never met a dessert I didn't like. I love a fruit cup, but that is not dessert to me. If it's fruit, it needs to be in pie form to be dessert or in the filling of a cake/cupcake. I love anything chocolate and love candies.

Ice Cream is a fave of mine. I always have some in my freezer.

I love cake....especially the corner piece if the frosting is yummy. Carrot cake is my favorite.

Banana creme pie...so good.

Probably my favorite desserts are probably ice cream/gelato (coffee chip is a current favorite) or cookies. I don't really love any kind of chocolate mixed with fruit and cake is just blah to me. It would be my last choice on a cruise type dessert menu.

I don't eat sweets very often these days, but I used to love cheesecake when we went out for dinner. Now, I might take a bite but that's about it.

I wish I didn't like desserts as much as I do. Lol. I think my favorite is usually a blizzard from DQ. I also love warm chewy brownies. And chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm... desserts.

joelsgirl 03-12-2022 07:47 PM

I don't excessively love desserts, but the only ones I don't eat are the ones with coconut (I hate the texture) or vegetables (not a dessert).

In the last few months I have had stomach issues, and I discovered that there isn't any food I love enough to endure a stomach ache.

What works out so very well in my relationship with my BF is that he loves to cook and bake but doesn't eat or particularly enjoy sweet things (especially chocolate). :D This weekend, he made me white chocolate strawberry scones with cheesecake drizzle that are to die for, and he has eaten one (or half of one?) but will likely send the rest home with me as they are bordering on "too sweet" for him.

My very favorite dessert is cheesecake. My mom makes a cheesecake at Christmas and my birthday (which are only a month apart) that is mint chocolate with an Oreo crust and a chocolate ganache.

I lean heavily towards chocolate desserts vs. fruit desserts. I don't enjoy coconut or nuts.

LJSDesigns 03-13-2022 01:16 AM

I just like dessert. But, I tend to go in streaks on what I like best at any given moment.

Right now it is apple pie. It's weird, because it has never been apple pie before, but these days, I am craving apple pie with a crumb topping. I have to avoid the grocery store or I will buy one and eat it.

Both my hubby and I love to try new bread puddings when we go out to eat at different restaurants for date nights. We always share and usually bring some home.

For birthdays my hubby always requests homemade German Chocolate cake. He always tries to get one of the kids to request it for their birthday cake, knowing full well that neither of the girls can even EAT his cake. They're both allergic to tree nuts.

Me...I always request my cheesecake.:wub: I've trained all my children to make this wonderful dessert so I don't have to make it for myself on my day. :D My middle daughter loves it too and I need to make it for this weekend when we finally get to have her birthday dinner.

I have a huge sweet tooth! It's hard to say what's my favorite. I love a good white cake with white buttercream frosting, turtle cheesecake, turtle chocolate candy, and turtle ice cream - guess that's why pecan pie is my favorite!

rach3975 03-14-2022 10:33 PM

The only desserts that I truly don't like at all are cheesecakes, key lime pie, and berry pies. But since I don't eat a lot of desserts, I'm very picky about what's worth splurging on. It has to be rich and chocolatey, and having peanut butter as well is a bonus. I'm more of an ice cream, candy bar, and brownie person--cake and pie are okay but rarely splurge-worthy. In my house we don't even have a tradition of cakes for birthdays! We did for the kids' birthday parties when they were younger, but now that it's just the family they're more likely to request things like Cold Stone Creamery ice cream or really good brownies with candy or cookies mixed in.

bienejen 03-15-2022 09:03 AM

These pretty much all sound good to me! I don't like peanut butter or mint chocolate anything but the rest.... I'm game for!

Kimberly27 03-18-2022 10:38 AM

My favorite splurge would be cheesecake. I make a mean cookie dough cheesecake in the instapot...yum!
