Anyone get Iron Infusions?

I finally convinced my doctor to refer me for iron infusions. I don't qualify to get them at the hospital though - my ferritin is low enough at 7, but my Hemoglobin isn't low enough - it's 89, and it needs to be below 80 to qualify to do it through Alberta Health Care.

So I'll have to pay for it out of pocket, but wondering if anyone has had one and how it went? Anything to watch for or know before I go? Hoping it'll make me less tired.

I have had them. At first I was very tired but I then was much better. Do you know the reason why your ferritin level is so low?

Guessing heavy menstrual cycle is the reason - but here in Alberta they don?t look for why, they just treat symptoms and hope for the best lol

I had iron infusions for anemia - I didn't have an underlying reason/disease for the anemia. It made a huge difference for me - my energy level definitely went up. I have also have not been anemic since - it was 10+ years ago. Very much worth it to me.

Just seeing this now, that was my problem. Look into adenomyosis.
