Photo hosting sites?

Since Photobucket stopped hosting photos for forums I've been using Google Photos. It used to be that if you clicked on the photo and chose "Copy image address" you got a photo link that would remain visible (unlike if you just clicked "share" and got the link that way). But I've noticed that everything I put on Google Photos for the SSD birthday threads has disappeared from the posts. I even went through yesterday and put the photos back, but they're gone again. The code still shows when I edit the post, but the photos aren't showing up. So clearly Google Photos has changed something and I can't use them to host photos any more. Any other suggestions?

I use Imgur:
https://imgur.com/

Or I make a private album on FB and share from there

biancka 03-01-2020 02:03 PM

Imgur is my go-to photo hosting site too :) Haven't had any issues since I started using it :)

I pay for smugmug but I figure the yearly cost is worth it. I can store photos there, private and public, and I keep all my LOs there.

NeverendingJen 03-01-2020 02:21 PM

I use smugmug, but it's one of my photo backups. I've used it for years and swear by it. It's so nice to have everything in one place and be able to easily share with family

LynnZant 03-01-2020 03:16 PM

I use IMUGR also.

rach3975 03-01-2020 03:25 PM

Thanks, everyone! I just set up an Imgur account, and I'll see how that works for me before I decide if I need to pay for something. I back up my photos on an EHD and with Crashplan, so hopefully a free site I can post a few photos a month to should be enough.

lorigaud 03-01-2020 03:44 PM

I'm an Imgur user too... had to find something other than photobucket, and several scrappers recommended it to me a couple of years ago. Never had any issues!

StacyLynn 03-01-2020 03:53 PM

I use a private album on Facebook for all my photo hosting.

aussiegirl 03-01-2020 05:10 PM

I have a private album on Facebook (for my eyes only) and post everything on there. Hopefully you can try a few things and see if it helps.

MandaT 03-01-2020 06:00 PM

I use Dropbox, but now I'm not sure if others can see them or not?!

JoCee 03-02-2020 01:47 AM

Imgur for me too, easy, free and so far, so good

Saar 03-02-2020 06:48 AM

I'm an imgur user as well. And I love it!

This is what I do too! When you break down the cost, it's less than $4/month, and I like that there's unlimited storage to go along with it.

jaye 03-02-2020 09:49 AM

I also use Imgur.

stephc777 03-02-2020 09:59 AM

I had the same problem, Rachel. I will check out Imgur as well!

Rae are you able to get links to share the layout in the forum as you do for Imgur?

I may look into it to store my layouts on. If I can get image forum links as well would be a bonus.

You will love Imgur, I’ve used it for ages preferred it over photobucket. I’ve never had an issue using it.

I'm not Rae, but I can share from smugmug just like I can share from anything in the gallery. I use it for alllll my photo storage and I love that I can have other family members upload too. When my FIL died, I was able to create private upload links for all the family to add their pics so my MIL had them all in one album

3BluEyedBabi 03-02-2020 06:29 PM

I host all mine on my blog (blogger) and just keep the post unpublished...

Thanks Jenn! Believe it or not after all these years I still don’t know how to quote two posts, lol.

So it does work like Imgur then where you can get a forum link and post the image in a forum thread. I uploaded a layout yesterday but couldn’t find where I would get the link for the image.

carrie1977 03-03-2020 08:55 AM

I've been using Flickr. It's worked out well for me since leaving Photobucket.

Leablahblah 03-03-2020 11:30 AM

I use imgur. I sometimes have issues to get to my own images there but otherwise no complaints.

If your siggy is hosted through DB, I can see it no problem

craftytam 03-03-2020 04:28 PM

I've been using imgur since Photobucket start d being such a pain. I'm guessing 2-3 years.

I just right click on the image, then copy image location, come here, start a post and use the image button to insert. I do it the same way from the gallery

Thanks for the ideas ladies!

Scrap-therapy 02-03-2022 08:53 AM

I discover SmuMug, I subscribe the free trial and it seems interesting but I wonder if it's interesting for saving all my pictures from EDH crash?
Is it ok with privacy?
And what is the best subscription plan in my case (just saving my pictures online)?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience Ladies!:)
