Need Help with Alphas

I'm still learning Photoshop (I'm former PSE user) and whatever I'm doing seems so inefficient. What are the clicks/keystrokes to create titles?

I opened alpha sheet on its own, meaning in a brand new layout. Then using marquee I drew rectangle around the letter. I clicked Ctrl + C for copy and then Ctrl + V for paste and pasted in another layout. I repeated the steps for all the letters I needed. Then I linked all the letter layers. Now I want to place the title on my main layout. Dragging and dropping doesn't work. How do I move the title I created?

TIA

You should paste the letters directly onto your layout, it's not necessary to have an intermediary step of putting them on their own canvas and then moving them over ... however, if you do that, you would just need to select all layers and do "copy merged" in your edit menu and paste them to your page. I don't do it that way since you lose flexibility once you've merged them together and it's a bunch of unnecessary steps. I'm all about efficiency :) HTH

Here's a tutorial that Lydia did regarding full sheet alphas. I do method 2 with a bit of a variation. But between Sheri's advice and this tut - you should be okay! If not ask!! :)

Looking at that tutorial, I use method one 99% of the time.

If you want to use method two, which I do if I want to resize all the letters at once, I would suggest creating an action that completes those steps for you and setting it up with a keyboard shortcut. It only takes a minute to set up and then saves you all that time having to go through the drop down menus for every letter thereafter.

I think I have mine set up as F9 or something. So I select the letter I want, hit F9 and it instantly creates a new layer for itself.

I create a new layer with each of the letters I want - select all layres - go to layers - duplicate layers, and choose my layout as destination.

Oops, never mind. It's already a short cut. Control+J
