For challenge #28 - Teacher Appreciation

If it weren’t for Mrs. Dickson, I truly would not be where I am now. I got into The Williams School with a math “deficiency” and on the condition that I got tutoring over the summer to bring me up to speed with the other entering seventh graders. But she went beyond that task – she also instilled in me a love for math which carried me all the way to college. My love of math and analysis steered me right into the various jobs I’ve had in the financial field. I still love math and numbers to this day, and I enjoy my job especially when I am able to work with numbers to help people make decisions or take actions.
But Mrs. Dickson was more than even a great teacher. She was also part friend, and because of her I joined the knitting and crocheting club. Even though I took a hiatus for many years, knitting is still a great hobby of mine. In a sense, you could say she instilled to passions in my life, then - math and knitting. And she was a great mentor growing up. I always felt like I could talk to her and she encouraged me to look into math fields like statistics when I went off to college. While I had many great teachers at Williams, I’d have to say she was the one who made the most impact on my life.
