betcha didn't know i have bipolar disorder. i say it that way because it isn't something i talk about often or think about unless it is causing me a problem. i was diagnosed in 2005 and when i'm unwel i experience days or even weeks in a manic state, unable to sleep or function well. it is a disease i have learned to manage, but it isn't an easy road to walk.
i hate living with bipolar disorder.
i have been hospitalized for this condition, called "cyclothymia" on several occasions.
i have been to three psychiatrists and four therapists for this.
when i am manic, i make poor decisions.
when i am manic, i feel superhuman. i feel like i am capable of anything. when i crash back down, i feel useless.
after my first diagnosis, i was in denial for years. i refused to believe i had it.
i dislike taking medication for this problem but i do when the symptoms are bad enough to disrupt my daily routine.
