Journaling Reads:
When I was a kid, we would go on family vacations every summer. Sometimes we drove only a couple of hours to a campground, other years we took long road trips to the west coast or quite often down in the states. We went to Yellowstone National Park one year and another year, we drove all the way out to the far west coast of BC to visit family. Wherever we were going, I can remember the same music, all the time.
We listened to a lot of Simon & Garfunkel. Some of our favorites were Cecilia, Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes, You Can Cal Me Al & Mrs. Robinson. My Dad really liked to listen to Leonard Cohen (It’s Closing Time) and my Mom loved KT Oslen (Come Next Monday). Sure, they might be cheesy and at the time, especially as a teenager, they probably wouldn’t have been at the top of my playlist. But today, whenever I hear those songs, they make me happy and I can’t help but sing along.
