My only complaint at Christmas...One of the traditions my parents seemed to have forged at Christmas was electing me to dole out the presents on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. When I was a little kid, it was fun because presents were great. When I reached highschool, I didn’t mind, because presents were still fun. But when college came, and I finally began feeling like an adult, having to hand out the presents became annoying. And, up until this last Christmas, the tradition continued-I was the one handing out the presents. 30 years old and I was still handing out presents from underneath the tree like a five year old. Talk about feeling like a little kid again-except imagine trying to crawl underneath the tree to reach the weenie sized present in the very back, with my tushie hanging out in the air-not very dignified. Every year I have sucked it up, but finally this year, I had an excuse-pregnancy. So finally, other people had to hand out the gifts (my niece and nephews). This next Christmas I vow to be firm and just say No to this kiddie job and be grateful that one day Macy will take my place as the “gift giver”.
