Journaling: It’s a joy watching you both grow up. This age is so special because you truly believe that you can be and do anything. Super heroes really do exist for you. When you grow up , you believe that you could be Spiderman. And even though I’m enjoying watching you grow, I dread the day that this innocence is taken away from you. I hope that your dad and I still instill in you a self-confidence that you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to, even if being Superman is unrealistic. We always hope that you both shoot for the stars in whatever you set out to accomplish. We want you to be the best that you can be in everything that you do, but above all, we want you to be happy in life. There are bound to be dissapointments in life, whether it’s not coming in first or losing someone that you love, but we want you to always know that we are proud of you when you do your best even if that means that you don’t make first place, and that we’ll always be here for you, whether that’s physically coming alongside of you to hug you or being in your heart as a reminder that we love you so much no matter what happens. The challenges of raising children today are many, and I’m sure that there will be times when we don’t always meet the mark either. We hope that you will be forgiving during those times and know that our intentions are always the best because we love you so much. While real life Super Heroes don't exist, I hope that we've taught you that there are real heroes in life. We've told you many times about your great-grandpas who served in World War II and there are many other types of every day heroes. If you strive to be a hero in your life, you will no doubt accomplish great things. So as I try to enjoy every minute of you growing up, I am also looking forward to what you are both going to do in your lives. I hope that we can be there for you along as you grow and show you what it really means to enjoy life and strive for being the best that you can be in whatever you choose to do.
