Journaling: This year has been such a revelation to me, gradual as it?s been. It?s all thanks to a beautiful group of women, & a growing belief in doing what makes me happy. For years I had been pressuring myself to be ?the good girl,? a throwback to my long-ago hangups with my mom. But this year I made a conscious effort to embrace more of what I call my ?spicy side,? that part of me that likes to play it a little wild, indulge in more expressive language, & let it reflect in the way I dress & style myself. My latest thing? The liberal blonde chunks I had put into my hair. I love letting this part of myself out to play--for once not harshly criticizing her or suppressing what she likes. And it?s resulted in a better relationship between me & Mark as well. He had glimpsed a little bit of this side of me when we first met, & he?s happy it?s showing up again.
