Journalling: "There were a couple of girls in my science class that were a little bigger than I was in year 9. They used to joke around and call me fat as a bit of a laugh, I mean we were all friends and I didn’t take it too seriously. I figured they were just saying it to make themselves feel better. But I remember one time they said it in front of my boyfriend, who simply laughed along... it was at this point that my self esteem started to falter. I started to feel self concious about what others thought of me... One time I even broke down and cried. No 13 year old girl wants to be called fat no matter what size they are. So I confronted them about it, not in the most mature way “Do I pick on your weight?” or something along those lines. And it stopped shortly after. One of those girls became my best friend shortly after and lost contact with the other. I wonder if she’d had enough of her ‘jokes’ as well?"
