"Sewing with my girl... oh man
what a sweet time for me! I love
sewing for her American Girl
Dolls... Molly, Skyler and
Kanani. I cut out and sew patterns,
but she makes her own designs and
encourages (i.e.. ‘makes’) me whip
them up. She makes the pillows
all by herself, showing me her
whip stitches so I can beam and
brag on her. We have designed &
made leggings, pajamas, skirts, dresses
shirts, blankets, hair accessories and
more. We usually put on some Taylor
Swift or Miley Cyrus and declare
that it is ‘girl time’ in the dining room.
I don’t think I was much older than
she is when I started making scrunchies
and zipper bags and bed pillows. I
love that this activity encourages creativity,
art, fine motor skills and is a way for
us to build memories together,"
