I’m not sure what made your Dad suddenly find the urge to go to the coast,
but one rare, sunny day in October, we headed out bright and early to Seaside
where you both would see the ocean for the first time. The trip ended up
being just as fun as running on the beach. Liam did fall asleep for most of the driving,
but we really didn’t mind having a break from the fighting that he seemed
to happen between you two when he was awake. Our final destination ended
up being more than one place as we continued north twoward Astoria where
we got to see the Columbia river empty into the Pacific. We took the scenic
Washington road back, eventually, seeing all there was to see before finally
hitting civilization, which was only a few miles outside of our home town. We were
gone all day long, and most of the trip was spent in the car, taking in all the sights.
But you both seemed to have had a great time on your first official family road trip.
