My attempt at a Super Nanny Technique to get my "8" year old to stop sucking her thumb and in general putting anything into her mouth.
Each time I catch her with the thumb or remote (yuck) in her mouth she had to put money in the can - the amount went up incrementally each week.
Each day she didn't "get caught" she earned a chip and once she got 5 chips, she could trade them in for a prize (pokemon cards, webkinz accessory)...
I don't think I've seen her sucking her thumb in several weeks!! Super Nanny Jo Jo would be proud:)
