Journaling:
Mrs. Kiner called and said she had taken you and Brittnee to the playground that morning on your play date. In a paniced voice she explained
that you fell from the monkey bars and broke your arm. Hearing you whimper and knowing you have a
huge tolerance for pain, I knew the break was bad. When she met me at the pediatricians office, I gently lifted you from the car and as I looked
down your arm was bent in a 90 degree angle about 2 inches above your wrist. How the bones kept from breaking through the skin is just a
mystery. After the nurses cleared the admissions process at the ER for us, we headed over in a wheelchair with your arm stabilized in a brace. We spent the next 7 hours having your arm x-rayed and having the Ortho PA on call attempt to set
it 6 different times. After the last attempt we all decided surgery was probably the best route and we were scheduled for the next morning.
After a long, sleepless night, we went back to St. Francis to have 3 pins inserted in your arm to set
both bones. It took 2 1/2 months, one full arm and three short arm casts, but it appears to be good
as new...with a little tender loving care!
