Journaling: It wasn’t until our cruise hit Juneau that I really started believing we were in Alaska! I mean, just a few days ago we had been sweltering in the midst of a typical Manila summer! But even with the sun shining so brightly here, the air was cold. Bundledup in three layers I was still shivering! And then, we caught our first glimpse of the Mendenhall Glacier. I was struck dumb. So much ice, all melting into a lake dotted with ice floes. We went as near to it as we could, and got to see how the icea had molded itself to the bedrock of the mountains that cradled it. I don’t think I had ever felt more in awe of nature until that moment. Little did I know that nature actually had so much more surprises in store for us during this trip.
