In 1992 I ended up in an Emergency Women’s Shelter.
I attended a treatment group with other women. At the end
of our group, we all took turns writing a few lines on a card
for our fellow group members telling them what we appeciated
about them. When I opened my card, I couldn’t believe what
the women had written. They had written things about me,
wonderful things that I had never even been aware of. Now,
34 years later, I still have that card and every once in a
while, when I am feeling down, I pull it out and read it. To
this day, I think of those women and the way they helped
me save my own life. I will always value what they wrote.
