If I only knew then....

I never realised my son needed glasses until he finished his first year of school. The guilt has always eaten away at me and I hope my sweet little man never remembers a time when he couldn't see properly.

Journaling reads:

How you loved preschool! After a few rocky months of clinging to my legs and screaming at me not to go, you really had the time of your life hanging out with the other kids and being the teachers’ favourite. You were quiet, yet cheeky and if I knew then what I know now about how bad your eyesight was I wonder how different you would be today. Your eyes were so bad I often wonder how you ever managed to learn your abc’s and to write your name. You have always been a fabulous reader and it breaks my heart when I think back to how much of a struggle it must have been for you before we realised that you needed glasses. Now that you can see things clearly I hope that you never feel cheated out of your early years. I look at the beautiful blue eyes in this photo and see happiness - may you always have it.
