- Journaling reads: This picture was taken on the day that I was finally able to hold you for the very first time. It was April 30, 2001, a full six days after your birth, and although you were incredibly tiny and fragile, you were strong and well enough to be held. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, and I’m so thankful one of the nurses had a Polaroid on hand to capture this glorious moment, even if the photos aren’t that great. I couldn’t believe you were so alert and awake, as if you were saying, “Hello Mommy, it’s nice to see you again!”
