Journaling: I couldn't even begin to fathom how much my heart could hurt until you were diagnosed with diabetes. Hearing the doctor utter those words and then watching the tests you endured and how our lives changed in the days immediately following, awoke a pain deep within my soul. It's an indescribable feeling, an all consuming pain knowing that there is something wrong with your child and there isn't anything you can do to fix it. I still have times where my heart aches like that. Where I look at you and my heart breaks all over again knowing that you have this disease. However, I'm finding that each day hurts a little less. Our lives have regained that normal chaoticness that it had once before. Your diabetes is part of our lives and will be for a very long time, but it seems to consume us a little less every day. It's becoming just another part of our lives. I asked you the other day if having diabetes makes you sad and you shook your head and said.. "no." and that was that. Aside from your multiple daily injections, your life hasn't changed that much and I'm very proud of that.. and I'm very proud of you.
