My daughter was born with a rare medical condition and has been developmentally behind in her physical development. She finally started to walk at 19 almost 20 months. I no longer take anything for granted. Every milestone she hits is a sigh of relief for our family. Its one less thing we need to worry about. So we also make a big deal out of everyone she meets no matter how "behind" she may be.
