So, I've been able to avoid all plastic toys up until recently when my mother in law introduced a tacky, plastic headed baby doll to my 18 month old daughter. Who instantly fell in love with the baby. So, of course, I had to get her another one ... and she adores her babies. It is amazing watching her nurture these dolls ... she nurses them (and asks me to nurse the dollies for her), feeds them strawberries and pretend tea at tea parties, she wears them in her play sling, and gives them baths in her swimming pool (yes, they are thrashed, as you can see from the close up shot of the baby laying in water outside). So, she "must" have these little plastic babies right now ... they are so pathetic looking they need a mother's unbiased love! :)
