Cardinals are special in my family, we feel that they hold a bit of the soul of those we have lost. I feel a sort of kinship with the bird. When I see them in nature I am reminded that I am not alone, and I never will be. That is why every year one of the last ornaments to go on the tree is this cardinal. I place it at the top looking down over the tree and room, as a reminder that my loved ones are with me.
